Frequently Asked Questions

(1) What qualities do I need to have to become a yoga teacher?

(ANSWER) All you need is an open heart and willingness to accept, acknowledge and embrace the change around and in you.

(2) I am an atheist, I can’t get all religious, can I practice yoga at M.S.I.Y.S ?

(ANSWER) Yoga came way before than any religion ever existed on Earth. It’s a spiritual science. A universal science of knowing oneself. Many atheists around the world are wonderful yogis today because they perceived Yoga in that sense only. Yoga never forces any religion over a yogi. It’s all spiritual!

(3) Can I practice yoga even if I’m not flexible and fit?

(ANSWER) Absolutely yes! The whole purpose of yoga is to enable you to become fit and flexible – physically, mentally and spiritually.

(4) I am not so a spiritual person but I think yoga can be beneficial, is it ok for me to enrol?

(ANS) Yes, it is definitely ok for you to practice yoga and pursue a yoga teacher training course. Our teacher shall guide you step by step throughout the course.

(5) What if I miss a class in an emergency situation?

(ANS) You can inform the course coordinator also for online classes you can get the recorded session on request. If you're going to miss an offline class, then please inform the coordinator or respective teachers of that class.

(6) How an online course is different from an offline course?

(ANSWER) Technically, there is no difference in an online Yoga Teacher Training Course and an offline Yoga Teacher Training Course. In fact, some additional benefits are there with an online training, like you get certified while sitting in the comfort of your home, you can easily continue living the other parts of your life undisturbed, you can request to reschedule your classes as per any given situation, you can get recorded sessions and more. Online or Offline – the journey remains the same.

(7) What if I just want to deepen my yoga practice and not pursue any YTTC certification?

(ANSWER) You can Just do drop-in classes at our school in goa or you can join our online sessions as well. However, each of our YTT course has been designed to enrich one’s yoga practice besides teaching the yoga teaching practices. But there are always options with us. :)

(8) What are the professional opportunities after YTTC?

(ANSWER) There are endless possibilities. You could

  • Work as an independent teacher

  • Open your own studio

  • Work as an assistant teacher in a big organization

  • Be a part of a health & wellness/yoga retreat

  • Write for an international yoga/health magazine

  • Work with 5-star hotels/beach resorts as a yoga professional

  • Work in gyms and fitness centre

  • Work in a school as a teacher

  • Be a part of an NGO/government organization/hospitals/corporates

(9) Is there any job/business securement?

(ANSWER) Being a successful yoga teacher takes some time, but as they say, practice makes a person perfect. And 98% of our passed-out students are confident enough to teach right after the course ends. Freelance yoga teachers earn really well, plus you earn on your terms. You are professionally certified to open your own yoga studio and become a professional teacher in yoga schools. So, the future is undoubtedly bright.

(10) Can I teach yoga or open my own studio with the YTT certificate that I get at M.S.I.Y.S ?

(ANSWER) Yoga Alliance is one of the biggest and most reputed organizations for Yoga Teachers in the world. It sets an extremely high benchmark to teach yoga. By qualifying and receiving the certificate, you become eligible to teach anywhere in the world.

(11) Do I need prior knowledge and practice of yoga before joining a YTTC?

(ANSWER) Not for every YTT course but for 300-hrs Yoga Teacher Training, a certain amount of experience with yoga is required. If you are joining 300 hr YTT program with any school to obtain RYT 500 status with Yoga Alliance International, then please be informed that Yoga Alliance requires you to have an RYT 200 certification. However, if you are doing this program for self-development, then please let us know about your prior experience with yoga so that our faculty can decide whether you are eligible to take up this course or not. Should you not be eligible, we would suggest you first take up our 200 Hr YTTC and then proceed with 300 Hr YTTC.

(12) How many students are there in an online session?

(ANSWER) The limit is around 15 students.

(13) How many students are there at goa per session?

(ANSWER) The limit is around 15 students.

(14) Can a beginner enroll in 200-hour YTT course?

(ANSWER) Definitely, Yes.

(15) What are the refund and cancellation policies?

(ANSWER) Fees, whether partially or fully paid, is not refundable. You may choose to shift to another course date. You may also choose to shift to an training fully. In this case, the fees already paid by you will be considered as deposit for the latter.

(16) How should I pay the course fees ?

(ANSWER) Following the details on your email, where you can check for fee and other related queries. You can pay through revolut.com (best option without extra tax or commission), PayPal or even TransferWise. Paying via our payment channel (card payment) will levy a 5% charge and paying via PayPal will levy a 5.5% charge on international transactions. Students having a bank account in India may pay through Net banking or Google Pay at no extra charge.

(17) Can I make part payments?

(18) What if I have already made payment and can’t take the course in the chosen time period later?

(ANSWER) You can always get in touch with your course counsellors Online or at M.S.I.Y.S - Our School. He / She will help you get your course rescheduled.
